Bathroom Prices

The cost of any bathroom will vary dramatically so it's difficult to give anyone an accurate estimate for the cost of their bathroom. Many websites will offer a free quote service so that they can obtain as much information as possible about the bathroom of your dreams and give you a more accurate quote. If not they will provide you with all the bits and pieces separately or as a suite collection and installation will need to be estimated or handled by yourself.

There are many things that can affect the price of a new bathroom including:

  1. The type of shower.
The cheapest version of shower is one fitted over an existing bath, if you need a shower cubicle this will cost you a bit more because of the extra work involved and the cubicle itself. A luxury wetroom will be even more at the top end of the budget scale.
  2. Change of services.
Changing the services locations by rearranging your bathroom suite will mean extra labour and possible extra parts. This will increase your installation bill and will need a quote.
  3. Type of suite.
The design, cost and quality of your suite will vary depending on which one you want. The higher the quality of the suite the higher the price will be. You may save money by buying complete sets of a particular suite design.
  4. Lighting installation or modifications.
Lighting in bathrooms needs to be installed or modified by a qualified electrician or there will be extra fees for Building Authority evaluation and testing. If you want to save money and do the electrical yourself make sure you contact the local authority to arrange testing and certification which is a legal requirement.
  5. Flooring changes.
If you are changing the flooring in your bathroom that will also add more money on to the cost of your new bathroom. In addition to this the type of flooring can also affect the overall cost of your new bathroom. Vinyl flooring is the cheapest flooring material available today overall, whereas natural stone such as marble is at the top end of the budget.
  6. Unforeseen problems.
Your initial bathroom installation quote may change if the workers encounter any unforeseen problems. Problems or issues the workers were not aware of beforehand could delay works and require more parts. Unfortunately, this is unpreventable but a company will always endeavour to provide with a quote that is as accurate as possible. Make sure they discuss any deviations with you as they arise beforehand.

You can expect to pay anything from £200 for a full bathroom suite to £900 for toilet and sink, £2,000 for a high quality bath and £2-3,000 for a full walk in shower cubicle. The price of your bathroom really will depend on what you choose. Don't forget, it's not just the set that will cost you money, plumbing parts, installation, flooring, lighting, wall/window modifications, accessories and more will all add to the final cost of your bathroom so make sure you plan out your bathroom budget thoroughly.
