Bathroom Shower Types

The shower is a crucial element to any bathroom and careful consideration needs to be taken in order to select the right shower for your bathroom. It's more than just deciding which shower has all the bells and whistles of luxury included, a shower needs to fit into your bathroom comfortably, it needs to compliment your existing bathroom design and your bathroom floor needs to be able to take the concentrated weight of a shower safely.

More importantly your budget will have a large impact on the choices you make in your bathroom design, we would all love luxury designer showers, large bath tubs, hot tubs and more in our bathroom but space restrictions and budget restrictions prevent us. You can still get a great shower for your bathroom though even if you are living on a budget. If you are installing a whole new bathroom or a new suite into an existing bathroom then make sure you plan the layout of your bathroom carefully. This will ensure that you get the most out of your bathroom space.

The most common household shower is usually situated over a bath to cut down on space used in the bathroom. Many people have very limited space available to play with and a shower cubicle simply does not fit. This is also the most economic option as it is the cheapest type of shower you can obtain thanks to the lack of cubicle. The main downside of this is entry and exit from the shower can be difficult and shower curtains will be necessary around the bath. Having a dedicated shower cubicle will also mean a possibly more powerful shower fixture, or two!

For those people who can live without the luxury of a bath and prefer to have a dedicated shower cubicle in their bathroom, swapping out the bath for a shower cubicle is a common option. You can also try to cut down on space even further by obtaining a corner cubicle which will free up a little more room in your bathroom and be less obtrusive. If you are going to purchase a shower enclosure most designs now have clear glass panels to optimise the feeling of space but they also come in a variety of frosting patterns. Glass panelling will require regular cleaning to avoid mould collecting in the edges and streaking on the glass. Just use a simple off the shelf household shower cleaner spray to clean the shower after every use.

Wetrooms are now a favourite for the ultimate luxury allowing you to choose the most powerful shower fixtures available and have more than one installed in different directions. The only downside with one of these luxury instalments is the price accurately reflects the luxury. A high quality modern wetroom can set you back quite a bit but if you can afford it, it is well worth the money spent. These rooms are easy to clean with no corners, provide spacious showering, powerful shower pressure, multiple fixtures and easy access with no climbing in and out of a bath or cubicle.
